Opal Parr Page, 73, of 7275 Rockfish Valley Highway, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her residence.
Born Oct. 15, 1935 in Albemarle County, she was a daughter of the late Early L. and Susie Kent Parr.
She was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church and retired as a teacher's aide from Rockfish Valley Elementary School, where the hundreds of children she taught were considered her adopted grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. "Buck" Page Jr. in 1985, a brother, Eugene Parr and a sister, Erma Parr Campbell.
Survivors include her two sons, H.T. Page and his wife, Rhonda, of Wirtz, Glenn Page and his wife, Kim, of Waynesboro, one sister, Evelyn Gibbs of Colonial Heights, three grandchildren, Early A. Page, Hilary K. Page and Taylor G. Swecker.
She also leaves a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Rodes United Methodist Church Cemetery by Phil Forehand.
Active pallbearers will be Early Page, Charles Gibbs, Gary Sites, Glen Sites, Bryan Rittenhouse, Jimmy Ballowe, Mike Campbell and Greg Pugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Armentrout, Bill Pannell, Kenneth Lee and Bill Lane.
