From the Argos Reflector in Argos, Indiana ... Thursday, November 23, 1922 ... page 1 ... column 8
Winnie Annabelle Harrell was born in Decatur County, Indiana, February 26, 1855. With her parents she removed to Marshall County when about 16 years of age, since which time most of her life has been spent in Argos.
In 1873 she was united in marriage to Silas Hoover, which union was blessed with two children. Her companion having died in 1880 she was united in marriage with John Lewis to which union one child was born.
Mr. Lewis having passed beyond, she was again united in marriage in 1892, with Enoch C. Harrell and to this union two children were given. Mr. Harrell passed away in January, 1919, since which time Mrs. Harrell and her youngest daughter, Mrs. Masterson, and family, have, in the main, lived together.
After a lingering, malignant illness, characterized much of the time by extreme suffering, Mrs. Harrell passed from this life at 6:30 Monday morning, November 20, 1922, having reached the age of 67 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Harrell had united with the Argos Christian Church about 50 years ago and through life held unwavering faith in her Master. Just last winter during the revival services she publicly re-acclaimed her allegiance to Jesus Christ.
Considering the extremity of her suffering during her final illness, she displayed remarkable fortitude and as the end drew near, humbly bowed to the Devine Will, and made all plans for the great journey.
Two children having preceded her, she was survived by three: Mrs. Alta Coffeen of South Bend, Mrs. George Berkheiser of Mishawaka and Mrs. Martha Masterson of Argos. Also four grandchildren, Hazel, Clarence and Alta Masterson of Argos and Mrs. George Barr of South Bend; one great-granddaughter, one brother, P. E. Harrell of Argos, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Van Horn of Knox; beside many relatives and friends.
She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a good neighbor, always willing to do what she could for others.
Funeral services were held from the Christian Church of Argos, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, in charge of the pastor, Rev. L. E. Dull. Interment followed at Maple Grove.
