In 1845 when Jesse Shivers died, Lemuel and Mahala were in Wharton County, Texas. In 1850 Census Lemuel Callaway was enumerated in Gaston, Sumter County , Alabama with his wife Mahala E.A., sons Milton M, Lemuel L, Shivers S. and daughters Nancy R., Malinda E., Matilda S., Sarah F ., Caroline A.; overseer John E.
